About Us

Jim Wingert

Our Pastor

Jim and Pat Wingert were appointed to serve McGaheysville United Methodist Church in June, 2013.  Prior to this Jim served as Pastor to the Stanley United Methodist Church, his only other appointment in the Virginia Annual Conference.  Moving to 'The Valley' from the plains of western Texas (Abilene) because there are children and (especially) grandchildren close by, it was 'love at first sight' for the expansive beauty and wonder of mountains, valley, hollows. winding roads, creeks and the river that actually has water in it year round.  Walking the trails, biking the byways, floating the river, greeting the sun's rise and setting in this God-drenched arena is the added bonus to the privilege of serving with a people who are on the 'way of Jesus' - seeking to love and serve him as our Sovereign King as we love and serve one another.

Shirley Diggle

Office Manager

Shirley Diggle is our church office manager.   She has lengthy experience in the administrative field, having worked both here in the United States and abroad (Japan).  Shirley has always loved music and is a member of the Elkton UMC Choir, Contemporary Praise Band, and the Bell Choir.  She also fills in whenever they need a pianist or organist.  Shirley is very active in her home church (Elkton UMC) and is a member of the United Methodist Women and serves as Chairperson of the Music and Worship committees.  She lives in McGaheysville with her husband, Joe.

Michael Tyree

Choir Director

Michael Tyree became a musician through the choir of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church while growing up in Clifton Forge, Va. He now works in the Shenandoah Valley as a performing violinist, pianist, composer, arranger, conductor, and private instructor while attending James Madison University.  An avid traveler, his work is largely inspired by places he's visited at home and abroad, especially the mountains of nearby Shenandoah National Park.
